From the researchers at Safe and Civil Schools and the publisher of the Tough Kid Series, nationally recognized expert, Jessica Sprick, will be presenting on best practices for building Tier II/III supports for chronic absenteeism.
This session focuses on:
- Building intervention support systems that apply proven principles of behavioral change to the issue of school refusal, shifting our efforts away from purely reactive and punitive measures
- Determining the causes of absenteeism for individual students with more resistant absenteeism challenges, using a functional behavioral assessment process
- Creating a continuum of supports and a variety of interventions within your system, allowing you to meet students’ needs and ensuring all students are regularly present in school
